(a.k.a. ”7-Keto” (DHEA))
7-Keto – the DHEA-compound that may not be what you think! DHEA – DeHydroEpiAndrosterone is the most abundant hormone in the human body – it is in the beginning of the conversion pathway of all hormones – and is mostly known for its downstream metabolites Androgens (e.g. Testosterone), Estrogens and other sex hormones.
Although 7-Keto (DHEA) is a metabolite of DHEA (it is mainly produced in the adrenal glands, in the skin and some in the brain) it does NOT convert back to DHEA and does NOT convert/metabolize further into the sex hormones, with their specific effects. It was first discovered in 1928. 7-Keto DHEA has the same secretion profile as DHEA itself and it is declining sharply after puberty and at age 50 is less than 50% of the peak value in the teens.
The Safety Profile of 7-Keto (DHEA) is excellent and 7-Keto has been found without negative side effects at even extremely high dosages. However, we still recommend to follow protocol/recommended dosages as a safety precaution.
Although 7-Keto DHEA is a close relative to DHEA itself and they do possess some common actions, 7-Keto also acts very differently in some major ways: apart from NOT converting into the sex hormones it has a very pronounced effect on the Immune System. 7-Keto DHEA also posses thermogenic capabilities and by creating energy as heat it is increasing the body’s metabolic rate which in turn increases the body’s ability to convert stored fat into energy (“fat loss”/”fat burner”). Other “exclusive” benefits of 7-Keto DHEA have been reported to be Cholesterol Reduction and Improvements in Memory, in this way more resembling Pregnenolone than DHEA itself.
A combination usage of DHEA and 7-Keto DHEA is recommended, then adjusting the dosages somewhat downwards until optimal dosages are arrived at
